I prefer to have the printed copy. I enjoy reading it, when I have time and might be sitting pool side with a glass of wine.

I love the magazine. I prefer the the print version so I can take it with to the beach, pool or when lounging in the tub. Do you see a pattern here? I love water and reading without the risk of electrocution!

Personally, I prefer to read the magazine itself. I save them and refer back to them occasionally. I like sitting down with my magazine, when it comes around the first of the month, a glass of wine and reading it from the front page to the back page!! It’s a GREAT informational & entertaining magazine on one of my favorite things in life . . smooth jazz!!! Thank you Smooth Jazz News!!!

I enjoy the hardcopy because I take it to work and let people n the office read it. They enjoy getting information early so they can plan better. I haven’t tried the online yet, but if u move towards online, I’ll have to move in that direction. Whatever u choose will b all right with me. Keep up the good work, great stories and interviews, along with state wide calendars of musical events. I reside in Baldwin Park, California.

I prefer them in print. It’s easier to refer to events later on by flipping a few pages vs. locating the site, navigating the site, scrolling and so on. Thank you.

Lonnie, we plan to keep publishing the print magazine, and are just curious as to whether people prefer the actual magazine or online as their reading preference. It appears that most people like the print form of the magazine so far. Thank you for your comment!

I enjoy the interviews and especially the calendar of upcoming events. Thanks so much for putting out a great, informative magazine!

I prefer the print version of the SJN for all the reasons previously mentioned. I often refer to past articles to read about performers and events, I share it with others, return to see CDs I may have missed, etc. I just thoroughly enjoy the publication and thank you for continuing to keep it going and us informed!

    Thanks much,

I prefer to read my Smooth Jazz News in the lovely colorfully printed version! I usually pick up a copy at my local coffee house & read it from cover to cover while enjoying a cup of my favorite brew. First I start with the Table of Contents; Melanie’s notes are always good reading! Then I check out the featured festivals & Smooth Jazz Alive to see which concerts are in my area that I can hopefully go to with my friends! I love the Discover New Music page; there’s usually a new artist I’m eager to learn about! The Win Cool Stuff page is always of interest. I’ve actually won tickets a few times in the last few years! I end up looking at the list of smooth jazz radio stations & get very sad that the 2 whole pages that used to be filled with stations have now dwindled down to a mere half page! I need my smooth jazz that I can listen to day & night! Many of my favorite stations have changed their formats to easy listening or R&B. Thank God for Smooth Jazz News where I can always get my smooth jazz fix whenever I want it!

Hi Randy: While we prefer people to read the print publication (mostly because, according to research, they will read more of the magazine in print than they will online), we don’t really profit from it. Our revenue is earned from ad sales. Having said that, we greatly appreciate our subscribers, and are also grateful for those who read online or pick up the magazine at a festival, distribution outlet or radio station. Thank you for your comment. Melanie

I prefer the print version of SmoothJazz News. I am old school and enjoy having a reading item in my hand. I subscribe to the print newspaper and get print magazines. It seems “real” when you hold what you read. And spend as little time as I can on a computer at home.
I usually read SmoothJazz News while listening to Sirius-XM Watercolors, #66, and sometimes hear the exact artist or tune being discussed in the magazine.

I prefer reading Smooth Jazz News in print. There’s something so pleasantly “old-school” convenient and satisfying about having a hard copy/print periodical handy to browse, particularly when it arrives fresh and new in your brick-and-mortar mailbox! It’s especially pleasing when the print magazine is one, such as Smooth Jazz News, that comes jammed-packed with quality news and special-interest content. Print! That’s my vote!

I’ve been subscribing to SJN for years. I have always loved reading the printed version and always will. I look forward to every publication when it comes in the mail. I enjoy the pictures of the events, the stories of the artists, new music reviews, and especially the calendar of events. I scan it every time and often find out about upcoming concerts in my area that I have not heard advertised anywhere else. I give and renew subscriptions for my friends for holiday gifts. I save the special ones, like the one featuring George Duke on the cover just before he passed away. When I went on a Smooth Jazz Cruise a few years ago, there was a contest for decorating our cabin door and I made a collage of all the SJN covers for a year and covered the whole door with it. It is sad that most of the Smooth Jazz Radio Stations have dwindled away, but there is still a huge following for this music out there and this great magazine keeps us all informed. Thank you Melanie and all your devoted staff! Keep up the good work!

With our nine months of winter here in Wyoming, it’s fun to browse through the magazine and plan our next vacation to a festival…somewhere warm! Last year it was Catalina Island. I prefer the print copy as I can take it everywhere and do not need a Wi-Fi connection or G4 cell connection as dropouts always happen. However, I also utilize the online version if someone is reading my copy. I think they both complement. I get my copy from Jazz at Jacks in Denver where the house band is Dotsero.

I prefer reading Smooth Jazz News in print. With a printed version, I can take it with me everywhere I go, I don’t need an electronic device to read it; and, I’m more likely to read it (I’m a diehard page-turner). An entertaining and informative (smooth jazz) publication either way, but I cast my vote for SMOOTH JAZZ NEWS in print!
